Farewell, thou art too dear for my possessing

A fortuitous encounter of the light and the dark
has been known in times past to produce a wee spark
before sombre Plutonian night swoops to swallow –
the celestial bright chariot of solar Apollo.
But together, of course, they’ll never get far;
it’s simply a question of just who they are.
Should either be tempted to noble self-sacrifice
all would be fire here – or all would be ice
it’s plain as the day that that just wouldn’t do
the sky would go ashen or other dull hue
Still, once in a blue moon they waltz in the wings
and get up to all sorts of…hmm…sweet naughty things.
