Perfection in a quadrant

…a sudden slight movement of the head
and then: perfection in a quadrant
just that pane of glass – the one to the left
sweet pale mauve roses reaching, rooting
for the young buds in the tree above
my entire body in a soft convulsion
of oooh and ahh and then [it’s written
in my genes, no doubt] why just one
quarter? And slowly, each pane inspected
and [รด, mystery divine] not one founding wanting;
subtler perhaps but genuinely perfect…here
in green on green, there with a pale wood slat
inobtrusive on the scene …and best of all
the realization that there were not four panes,
but six: That I’d missed as far as that!
Hmn, think I’ll come here for lunch again
